In a person’s lifetime, there is no greater accomplishment than being able to purchase a home of your own.

But, there are many other hurdles to navigate during the home-buying process that you may not have considered, like; appraisals, inspections, competing offers and the loan closing, just to name a few. During this process, you will likely cross paths with several agents, either from direct listings or through a firm’s website. While these avenues are all fine, the best way to find an agent is still good old-fashioned “word of mouth”. Talk with your friends and family that have recently purchased a home. Did their agent do a phenomenal job (not just an “okay” job) at staying in touch throughout the entire process? Did they go to bat for their clients when it came time to submit a competing offer? Did they walk them through the steps for finding financing and closing the deal? Did they go above and beyond by offering information about local moving companies, child-care, pet grooming services and other needs in the area where you are relocating?
